Jill Soloway, creator of Amazon's "Transparent," spoke at GLAAD's panel at the Television Critics Association press tour on Friday.
Soloway was asked to recall the first time they were ever heartbroken over seeing themselves represented on television.
Soloway responded, saying that SNL's sketch "It's Pat" was an "awful piece of anti-trans propaganda."
SNL's Julia Sweeney created and played the androgynous character "Pat" in the early 90's, and the running joke of the sketch was the inability of others to determine the Pat’s gender.
Soloway said that creating a character that the whole world laughed at was a "hateful, awful thing to do to non-binary people."
