Will there ever be a 'RuPaul's Drag Race' with female drag queens as contestants?

  • At DragWorld UK this past weekend in Olympia, London, RuPaul's Drag Race judge Michelle Visage was asked if the series would ever let female drag queens compete for the crown. Visage's response: "Right now, RuPaul’s Drag Race is about the art – the fundamental – where it was based in drag. So it’s from males transforming into females. I personally would love to see a ‘biologigirl’ – a bio queen – Drag Race. It would be fantastic. Maybe I could star in that one – who knows? As you all know, I’m a huge fan of all that. I don’t like to say faux queen, because there’s nothing faux about them."

  • Visage then brought up Peppermint, the runner-up in the ninth season of Drag Race: "It’s the same thing with Peppermint, who was our first out trans woman and she went all the way to Top 2. You never know, there’s so many ways that you can go. But traditionally, RuPaul’s Drag Race is about the art of men dressing up as ladyboys."
