The Dark Tower film is apparently a mess

  • Variety reported that the film was a disaster behind the scenes with the studio even considering firing the director and recutting the film themselves. Six million was spent in reshoots.

  • Mike Ryan of Uproxx writes, "This final product reminds me a lot of the GOP healthcare plan: You've had all this time and THIS is what you come up with?"

  • Dan Callahan of The Wrap writes, "As McConaughey swans through scene after ridiculous scene, it's almost as if he is deliberately aiming for a Razzie Award to go with his Oscar. Imagine RuPaul playing Clint Eastwood and you will get an idea of the mixed messages of his work here".

  • Angie Han of Mashable writes, "The Dark Tower doesn't really do a good job of explaining any of the mythology we're looking at here, either... The effect is akin to listening to someone describe a dream they had last night – it's full of sloppy and-then-this-happeneds and oh-right-did-I-forget-to-mentions. It's just as difficult to follow, and almost as boring."

  • Currently has 16% on RottenTomatoes.
