Reese Witherspoon talks sexism and racism with Glamour magazine

  • She used to show up on sets and be the only actress with speaking lines and sometimes one of the only women there because all the crew was male

  • Enjoyed working on Home Again (directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer, daughter of Nancy Meyers) and A Wrinkle in Time (directed by Ava DuVernay) because they had a more balanced crew of women and men

  • Was talking to Mindy Kaling and asked her if she didn't get tired writing all the time and Mindy told her she'd never acted in anything she hadn't written herself so if she doesn't write she doesn't get to work

  • Says it took her producing three hits (Gone Girl, Big Little Lies, and Wild) before studios started talking her seriously

  • Wants to keep working with other women especially with women directors and writers
